Description

The HTC DM‑97 Digital Multimeter delivers a robust 3¾‑digit, 4000‑count display and True RMS measurement, combining professional-grade versatility, accurate performance, and ease of use in a rugged handheld design. Featuring both auto‑range and manual range modes, it provides precision readings across voltage, current, resistance, capacitance, frequency, duty cycle, temperature, diode, transistor, and non-contact voltage detection.

Starting with voltage, the DM‑97 handles DC up to 1000 V with a fine resolution from 0.1 mV to 1 V, and heats up an accurate rating of ±(0.5% + 4 digits). AC voltage capability extends to 750 V RMS, with resolution down to 0.1 mV and accuracy of ±(0.8% + 6 digits)—making it ideal for both low and high-voltage diagnostics. It accurately measures both DC and AC currents across a broad spectrum: 0.1 µA to 20 A for DC with ±(1.0% + 5 digits), and AC with ±(1.5% + 5 digits) precision. The meter’s fuse-protected high-current input handles up to 20 A for up to 10 seconds safely.

Resistance measurements range from 0.1 Ω to 40 MΩ, with resolution from 0.1 Ω to 100 kΩ and accuracy of ±(0.8% + 2 digits)—perfect for continuity checks, circuit diagnosis, and component verification. A buzzer sounds at low resistance (under ~30 Ω) for quick continuity detection. Transistor testing (hFE) works with both NPN and PNP devices up to a gain of ±1000.

Capacitance capability extends from 10 pF to 200 µF, offering resolution down to 10 pF and an accuracy of ±(3.5% + 8 digits). Its built-in frequency/duty cycle mode covers 0.1 Hz to 30 MHz, with ±(0.5% + 4 digits) accuracy and rapid sampling (~3 readings/sec). Users can switch between frequency and duty cycle modes with a simple button.

A standout feature is its temperature measurement via Type‑K thermocouple, covering –40 °C to +1000 °C with ±(0.8% + 4 digits) accuracy. Users can toggle between °C and °F display modes. It also includes non‑contact voltage detection (NCV) to identify live lines without direct contact.

Operation is streamlined with intuitive functions such as Data Hold, Max/Min value recording, relative (REL) mode, auto power‑off after ~30 minutes, backlight, and low-battery indicator (below ~2.4 V). The range of buttons includes SELECT (to toggle measurement modes), RANGE (for manual or auto-ranging), REL, and HOLD/LIGHT. It also features overload protection, auto polarity, and error indicators such as “OL” for out-of-range. A shutter-interlock and anti-shock construction enhance safety and durability.

The device houses a large LCD screen with 20 mm high digits, improving readability in dim environments. It uses a durable ABS casing and comes with a test lead set, TP‑01 bead-type thermocouple probe, holster, and user manual. Power is provided by two AAA batteries (1.5 V each), offering extended operation in the field.

With dimensions around 185 × 93 × 35 mm and weight approximately 215–340 g, the DM‑97 is portable and easy to grip. Its safety rating meets IEC 61010 Category II for voltages up to 1000 V. The instrument operates reliably in environments from 0 °C to 40 °C, with humidity <80% (non-condensing), and can be stored between –10 °C to +50 °C without performance loss.
